July 2020 Update

With the border still being closed not being able to return to China has been tough. Thank goodness for internet connections to make it possible to still be able to maintain relationships. But it certainly doesn’t compare to face to face contact!

Travel and commerce restrictions seem to have loosened a bit within China. The new norm going forward is to go everywhere in public wearing a face mask. While our team members adjust to wearing face masks every time they go out and about, they are thankful to be able now to go out in public after much isolation over the last six months. PRAISE God for the faithfulness of these Christian workers and their desire to continue the ministry work and their sense of urgency for the task!

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If you remain in me and I in you, you will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing.” John 15:5

They are in the process of possibly expanding their outreach by recruiting another leader. We are currently blessed with a fantastic team dynamic and we are very thankful for that! PRAY that the Lord will guide them and bring whomever He wants to join them.

So if the pandemic wasn’t enough now with the start of August temperatures can reach many days up to 120 degrees Fahrenheit. Many people stop going outside during the afternoon hours to avoid the heat. They will sleep during the afternoon and stay up half the night. Electricity becomes scarcer, and those who cannot afford air conditioners will suffer significantly. PRAY for believers to have opportunities to help hurting people resulting in open doors to sharing the hope of Christ to meet their personal and spiritual needs.

The Chinese government wants to instill a national pride in their citizens by telling them that all they need is what the government provides. National pride is not wrong until it becomes a snare and keeps people from knowing God. And that is what the government wants to do is eliminate Christian beliefs and make religion more Chinese by instilling it with socialist values. But God says in Isaiah 45:22 “Turn to me and be saved, all you ends of the earth; for I am God, and there is no other.”

For that reason Rolf’s team is focusing for the rest of 2020 on a “Day of Prayer and Fasting” to combat these strongholds. The “Day of Prayer and Fasting” occurs on the second Monday of each month. For the month of August the focus will be on Pride. PRAY for a humbling of hearts and a turning to God throughout China.

Thank you for being on this journey with us and keeping our Chinese brothers and sisters in prayer as they keep on keeping on in these challenging times.
