Not much has changed from last month except we are very happy to report a new session of “Faith or Fiction” classes will be starting early July. Our lead leader reports as of now 173 participants have already signed up! Many of the precautions and restrictions from the pandemic have been lifted so they can start meeting but they still need to proceed with much caution as they attempt to advance the Gospel despite the Chinese government’s continued opposition.
We are grateful and thankful for our faithful and courageous leaders that continue to persevere. Please pray for their protection and those enrolled in their classes. God be glorified!!
“And pray that we may be delivered from wicked and evil people, for not everyone has faith. But the Lord is faithful, and he will strengthen you and protect you from the evil one.” 2 Thessalonians 3:2,3.
As Rolf waits…and waits…and waits to be able to return to China his Christian school owner told him the typical Communist strategy whenever they plan to persecute God’s people is to first remove foreign believers. This cuts the Chinese Schools/ Churches off from outside help, and hides them from the glare of international publicity. This strategy has been implemented again during the recent pandemic situation.
The leaders of several mission organizations have reported they are struggling to make contact with their Chinese coworkers. Many believers have been arrested or have gone into hiding, turning off all their electronic devices so they can’t be tracked by the authorities. Meanwhile, foreign Christians who have given their lives to serve the Lord in China are feeling isolated. They’ve been blocked out of China and currently banned from returning to the mission field. Over 300 foreign believers who were living/working legally in Rolf’s city as students, teachers, business owners and in a host of other roles are stranded in their home countries waiting to return to China once the restrictions are lifted.
Being home right now Rolf was here for Father’s Day for the first time in a long time. As it turned out there was no family Father’s Day get together so we made our own celebration and went to see one of his favorite country bands. We enjoyed dinner and some good country music! He had a good day even if it was only with Sherri!
We were invited to celebrate the 4th of July with family at our son’s house. Our oldest grandson was in town and Rolf had not seen him in a very long time so that was a special treat. It was a great family day with 2 of our other grandchildren and our 2 great grandchildren also there. After months with this COVID thing with staying in and entertaining ourselves with playing games and watching movies it felt good to be able to be out and to do some “normal” things!
Hope this finds you well and you are safe and staying healthy.
