Year End 2019 Update

It has been a privilege to serve the Lord for another year, and we feel greatly blessed to be involved in many people coming to know Him as their Lord and Savior. This year, 1016 participants have surrendered their lives to Christ after receiving God’s Word through “Faith or Fiction” classes, led by six Chinese leaders and myself over a period of 36 weeks. For the last 17 years, our strategy has been to operate with as few overhead expenses as possible, so that the maximum resources are placed in the hands of these front line workers we are honored to assist and serve. We thank each person who prayed for and supported our work this year. Without your vital partnership none of these things would have occurred.

As we reflect, we saw a year of huge challenges as well as great blessings. It started by highlighting  the terrible persecution which was coming to the Church in China. People have asked how we can continue to serve God in the current environment, when foreign missionaries are being systematically expelled and the government is using incredibly invasive new AI technology to help them persecute God’s people. The only explanation we have is found in Deuteronomy 31:6 “Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

While at times we face great opposition and uncertainty, the work has been able to continue by the Spirit of God actively protecting and empowering His workers to do what they never could do with mere human strength. As long as the Lord keeps the door open and His grace continues to sweep us along, we will stand back and watch the Holy Spirit achieve things that are humanly impossible. Please pray we will never be deceived into thinking we can do God’s work in our own strength, for the Lord Jesus said “I am the vine, you are the branches. He who abides in Me, and I in him, bears much fruit; for without Me you can do nothing” (John 15:5) and, “The Spirit gives life, but the flesh counts for nothing” (John 6:63).

There remains a critical shortage of Bibles in China today. We have begun putting “Bibles on USB drives” and other digital devices and we are giving them to every “Faith or Fiction” participant and many others. Please pray that each of these life-changing USB drives will find their way to someone who is searching for the truth, and that they would be gripped and convicted of their sin and unbelief by the power of the Holy Spirit as they read the Word of Life for the first time. Ask God to use these resources to bring many lost sheep into His kingdom. The “Digital Bible” is our newest project and is what your giving is helping support.

“For the Word of God is alive and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow; it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart. Nothing in all creation is hidden from God’s sight. Everything is uncovered and laid bare before the eyes of him to whom we must give account.” (Hebrews 4:12-13).

Together we will face tomorrow and continue to proclaim the Good News to spiritually hungry people.
