This school year is drawing to a close. Rolf will be coming home on June 30th for his summer break and will get reacquainted with family, friends, and America food. You know he never really wants to go to a Chinese restaurant when he is home! It has been a good and fruitful year. God has used him to be involved in many changed lives.
“For the word of God is living and active. Sharper than any double-edged sword, it penetrates even to dividing soul and spirit, joints and marrow: it judges the thoughts and attitudes of the heart.” Hebrews 4:12
In his present “Faith or Fiction” class 6 of the 8 students have made decisions to follow Christ. One of the students, Mark, always shows up for classes but from the beginning he was very quiet. Rolf became curious as to what was going on so he invited him to breakfast and learned that his mother was a Muslim. This is a first encounter with this type of situation…..what to do……Well, he is coming to all the classes and hearing God’s Word so why not just let God’s Word speak to him and to pray for him. Rolf has had some gentle conversations with him and has prayed with him and he does occasionally go to church.
Julian is still sitting on the fence, not yet ready to jump on board with the others. But he attends all the classes and is going regularly to church. PRAY for these two that they would be released from whatever is holding them back from giving their hearts to Jesus.
Rolf has also been meeting for breakfast regularly with two other students from his school class. They are businessmen that seemed to be open and Rolf first asked if they would like to go to church with him. They were not interested but came back with “why do people go to church?” This is when Rolf decided to invite them to breakfast to discuss things further. He answered them, Christians go to church to worship God and to fellowship. Their next question was, “What is a Christian?” – perfect opening for Rolf to give his testimony. This led to more breakfasts and many more questions. Today, they have both given their lives to Christ and are going to church!! PRAISE God!
What a privilege to be a part of what God is doing in China. Rolf has had up to 40 past and present students attending church on any given Sunday. To look around and see all these new brothers and sisters in Christ brings a feeling of overwhelming gratitude to the great God that we serve.
Thank you for serving with us in bringing the love of Christ to China!
