“See, the LORD your God has given you the land. Go up and take possession of it as the LORD, the God of your ancestors, told you. Do not be afraid, do not be discouraged.” Deuteronomy1:21.
The time has come for Rolf to leave to return to China and to his new school. He is leaving October 1st and as is the case more often than not – not without some challenges. He was not able to get a work permit because the school he left has not released him. So he went with all his papers to the Chinese Consulate to get a business visa only to find the Chinese are now asking for a letter of introduction from someone in China. So back home he came and he emailed a friend in Beijing asking if he would sent a letter for him which he did and so Rolf went back to the consulate with all his paperwork and now was able to get his visa. This is good for a year but he cannot stay in China for more than 90 days at a time.
Meanwhile while he is in China he will be working on getting released from the previous school so he hopefully can turn his business visa into a work permit. Word from the (new) school is that the Ministry of Education is balking at issuing a work permit to someone over 60 – so next hurdle to cross! Please PRAY he will get a release from the other school and the Ministry of Education will issue him a work permit.
Thank you for your prayers that we would find some time together. We did! We even were able to get away for 2 nights and spent a relaxing and fun time in Shipshewana IN, Amish country. We enjoyed the peace and quiet of the country and the simple lifestyle represented there. We stayed in a beautiful bed & breakfast surrounded by farmlands and unbeknownst to us when we booked it that it was run by a wonderful Christian couple. It was very comforting to see Bible verses over doorways and on plaques throughout the house and in the morning before we ate to have them give thanks for the day and the food. God is so good!!
While Rolf is gone Sherri is back involved at church with doing childcare, volunteering as a coach for leaders in women’s ministry and as a connection coach connecting women looking for a group on Wednesday mornings. And for fun she has been taking country line dancing lessons – don’t need a partner for that!
We are so grateful for your support and prayers through this continuing adventure.
