Year End Update 2011

“I am the vine; you are the branches. If a man remains in me and I in him, he will bear much fruit; apart from me you can do nothing. If anyone does not remain in me, he is like a branch that is thrown away and withers; such branches are picked up, thrown into the fire and burned. If you remain in me and my words remain in you, ask whatever you wish, and it will be given you. This is to my Father’s glory, that you bear much fruit, showing yourselves to be my disciples.“ (John 15:5-8)

It is with thankfulness that we bring you the summary year end update of our activities for 2011. It is a great joy to serve the Lord Jesus in China for another year, and we have been privileged to witness many people come to know Him for the first time. It always humbles us to write about “our” activities at all, for we are merely a link in the chain between you and the expansion of the kingdom of God taking place in Asia.

You prayed and we saw 64 doors and hearts opened that only God could open. You prayed and we saw an amazing spiritual harvest taking place during follow up Bible studies and discipleship activities held weekly in three secured places around the city. You gave and we watched your gifts bearing fruit in people to come to Christ because someone on the other side of the world cares enough to pray and help advance the Gospel in the darkest and most needy regions of Asia, where 60% of the world’s population lives and dies.

One of the many highlights was to see a gifted student who gave his life to Christ to become a “discipler” amongst other students encouraging them weekly to go to church and join fellowship activities. Another time the Holy Spirit worked miraculous in a family who attended church for years but never had invited Jesus Christ into their hearts. We also were able to provide 200 “An Anchor for the Soul” booklets to Chinese non-believers praying God will use these resources saving many people from the clutches of hell.

On the ministry side we have the good news to report that Harold Jerde, a longtime local missionary friend, has joined International Ambassadors for Christ. Harold’s ministry work and support will be under his own umbrella “Harold’s Heroes”, focusing on short term mission trips locally and elsewhere as God leads him to serve those less fortunate, especially those who find themselves in disaster situations. We covet your prayers as the ministry expands to impact more people for Jesus Christ.

While this world system seems to be rapidly falling apart at the seams, we are more than ever determined to serve our soon-coming King until the very last moment, before the sun sets and all labor will cease. The Lord Jesus said: “As long as it is day, we must do the works of him who sent me. Night is coming, when no one can work. While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.” (John 9: 4-5)  We want you to know how grateful we are to the Lord for you. With the economic uncertainty that has affected so many people we are thankfully reminded of your sacrificial gifts and prayers for the Lord’s work. We ask Him to meet all your needs “according to His riches in glory by Christ Jesus” (Philippians 4:19). We pray you will keep your eyes fixed upon Him and hold fast to Him who is our only security.

We would appreciate your continued prayer support for God’s protection and favor, and that multitudes of new believers will soon worship the Living Lord, and many captives will be set free. As our hearts continue to beat with yours for China we are honored to serve our Savior side-by-side with you in the coming year.

We pray that in this season of celebration of our Savior’s birth, you and your loved ones would experience great joy and blessing from God. “For to us a child is born, to us a son is given, and the government will be on his shoulders. And he will be called Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, and Prince of Peace.“ (Isaiah 9:6)
