July 2010 Update

“Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain. ” I Chronicles 4:10

Rolf is packing his suitcase for China! Since our last letter it has been a roller coaster ride – first he wasn’t going, then he was, no he’s not – now he is. There have been 2 schools in two different cities that have come about and have invited him to come and teach. Both have come through former students giving him leads. So many students keeping the computer hot with emails with thoughts, suggestions, prayers and ideas and wanting him to come back.

After much thought, consideration and prayer Rolf will be teaching at a school called Shijiazhuang Vocational College of Foreign Language Translation where he will be teaching not just English but German, too! What were some of the factors for choosing this school over the other? Rolf will be 1) teaching in a different school but in the same city as before 2) he knows the city 3) he has friends and contacts there 4) he can go to the same church and 5) and most importantly, he will have contact (follow up) with former students. Not being able to return to his old school, but being in the same city, we see it as God enlarging his territory with a new school and new students that God might draw to Himself though Rolf. We are excited and THANK YOU for your prayers.

He has his airline reservations to leave on August 26th. He still has to get a visa and we really need PRAYER for the right paperwork to arrive in time to be able to get the type of visa that he needs.

Please PRAY for Rolf as Jabez asked God in his prayer to 1) Bless him 2) Help him in his work 3) Be with him in all he does 4) Keep him from evil and disaster.

In the meantime. . . . .July is the month for the grade schoolers to attend Hot U, our church’s summer camp. Our two youngest grand kids, Sean and Brittany are coming to stay with us to attend a week of fun and learning the truth of God’s Word both in a large group and small group setting. They will also participate in activities in a class that they selected called “Build It”, a class using a construction theme to make and build things from different materials. As they are doing that Sherri will be working in the nursery taking care of babies of the volunteers for Hot U which means we all have to be there at 7:30 AM!

We have 750 kids registered for Hot U and some 80+ babies and preschoolers that will be in Kids Zone (childcare). Please PRAY for safety for the kids and that they will go home with a better understanding of God’s truth and PRAY, too, for energy for the staff and volunteers. Remember especially our Brittany and Sean.

Knowing you are praying for us is huge and energizes us and we can’t thank you enough!!
