Rolf is home and settling in to life back in the States, but he has left part of his heart back in China. He is catching up with family and friends and after only riding a bike for almost a year, he has gotten used to driving a car again!
A week after he was home we had our 2 youngest grandchildren Sean and Brittany staying with us for the week so they could attend HOT U our church’s summer camp for children. While they were enjoying fun, games, singing and teaching of truths of God’s Word Sherri was working in the nursery caring for the babies of volunteer leaders for HOT U. After camp ended for the day Grandpa took over giving Sherri a break and spoiling his grand kids with various activities. It was a very fun (but tiring!!) week.
Since being home Rolf has gotten many emails and calls from students. They all say how much they miss him and how they are waiting for him to come back. One such email read, “How are you these days? Are you good? (We) miss you! I have heard that you have come back to your hometown and will do operation in your leg. So we will pray for you. We hope God’s rest strength and happy always be with you that you could quickly be healed. And we hope you will come back to China again. Because we love you! God’s Love and Blessing always be with you! We love you! Hope you come back!
Just this morning another student called from China. He was one of the many that had prayed with Rolf to receive Christ and one that had received a Bible. Rolf asked him if he was reading his Bible. He said he had it by his pillow and read it every morning! This student was one of the 56 students and 1 teacher that had made decisions for Christ with Rolf this past year. Please PRAY for them that they hunger for God’s Word and will continue to grow.
“Blessed are those who hunger and thirst for righteousness for they will be filled.”Matthew 5:6
Rolf’s knees have held up fairly well, some days better than others. some days not so good.. We are very appreciative of his doctor for supplying him with meds while he was in China to help with the pain. Now Rolf is preparing for knee replacement surgery for November. We would appreciate your prayers. Rolf has all confidence in his doctor, but the idea of the surgery makes him somewhat nervous. PRAY that he would “not be anxious about anything, but in everything, by prayer and petition, with thanksgiving, present (his) requests to God. And the peace of God, which transcends all understanding, will guard (his) heart and (his) mind in Christ Jesus.” Philippians 4:6-7
After 6 years of faithfully serving us Rolf’s laptop computer is starting to moan and groan. He took it in and was told he needs to do something — and soon! An old computer also means some programs are old and outdated with tech help no longer available for them. It’s looking like a new computer is what we need. Please PRAY we would make the right decision and that God would provide the means.
Thanks for standing by us and for you part in the mission fields of China.
