Shortly we will be saying good bye to our “Chinese granddaughter”. Kevin and Liaosha have decided it is time to take baby Aisha home to China. Even after a couple of tries neither of their moms were able to get visas to come here so Kevin, Liaosha and Aisha will leave on March 12th to take Aisha home to meet two very anxious and excited grandmas!
“Be humble when you are trying to teach those who are mixed up concerning the truth. For if you talk meekly and courteously to them they are more likely, with God’s help, to turn away from their wrong ideas and believe what is true” II Timothy 2:25 TLB.
Meanwhile, Sherri has been doing a Bible study with Liaosha. This has been a real challenge. While at school in Scotland Liaosha had been doing a Bible study with someone teaching a different gospel. This has made it difficult because what she has learned and what she has been told conflicts with the Truth. This makes her question, “How do I know what to believe ?” PRAY God would speak Truth through Sherri and that Liaosha’s ears would be open to hear and believe.
Monica, our Chinese exchange student, made the honor roll last semester — almost straight A’s! This semester is a little more demanding for her. She is taking some more difficult classes and with the language challenges that can come with that, she has to work even harder. PRAY for her to preserve and to not give up.
A couple of weeks ago, on a long weekend, she did get a break and was able to visit a friend in Washington, DC. This friend, Sarah, who attends Georgetown University, is a young girl that assisted us when we were in China teaching a summer English camp at Monica’s school. They had a great time together catching up and Monica was able to see some of the sights there, too — and it was good for her to just get a change of scenery!
Along with our granddaughter, Brittany, we will be taking Monica to see a little more of this country when we drive to Florida for spring break. We will stay at Sherri’s brother and sister-in-law’s lake house just outside of Gainesville. PRAY for our safe travel and quality time together — warm weather would be nice, too!!
God has been faithful in providing for our needs, but we are still short in monthly support to meet our 2008 budget. Any consideration to help us meet this goal would be much appreciated. Gifts can be made out to International Ambassadors for Christ, P.O. Box 545. St. Charles IL 60174-0545. By investing you help make a difference in bringing the Gospel to China and we are grateful.
“May he give us the desire to do his will in everything, and to obey all the commandments and instructions he has given our ancestors. And may these words of (our) prayer be constantly before him day and night, so that he helps (us) and all of Israel in accordance with our daily needs. May people all over the earth know that the Lord is God, and that there is no other god at all.” I Kings 8:58-60 TLB.
What a privilege to serve our Lord and to have you on our team serving with us.
