“I can do everything through him who gives me strength.” (Philippians 4:13) Life is ever changing in the Ronstadt household. God does answer prayer but sometimes when we least expect it and in ways we were not expecting. It was a desperate phone call one evening and our granddaughter, Brittany and her mom, Debbie moved in with us. Unfortunately it happened because of abuse directed toward Debbie from her family. Now that they are here, though, we are excited about the possibilities that can come from this — a new start and a new better life for both of them. However, this does not come without challenges for all of us. They have come from a lifestyle we don’t understand into a lifestyle they don’t understand.
Right now we feel very much in need for your prayers as this is definitely not something we can do on our own strength. It can only come from our God who promises if we come to Him He will give the strength and wisdom we need. It comes, too, as we are preparing to go to China for the month of July to join a team to teach English to high school students at a summer workshop.
We are going back to the city of Urumqi in the northwestern part of China where we were last year to teach English to the staff at a hotel there. We loved it there and wanted to be able to return and when the opportunity was presented to us last year to go back we were delighted and eager. We will be staying at a different hotel, but plan to connect with some of our past students.
After much prayer, a difficult decision was made for Rolf to accept the university teaching position that was offered in Shijiazhuang for the upcoming school year. We have appreciated those that have voiced concern to us about this, especially in light of the fact that we are still going through the grieving process. We really do feel this is where God wants Rolf to be. Of course, we have some concerns, but at the same time a peace about it. And we know we couldn’t do it without knowing you will be interceding for us.
We are extremely blessed to have you and the rest of our support system of friends, neighbors and our church family to be there for us not only in lifting us in prayer, but also in practical ways. We are so very grateful and thankful and can’t thank God enough for you.
PRAY for our preparation time for both of these trips both spiritually and for time to familiarize ourselves with the lesson plans and for everything else that needs to be done before we go. With all that is going on time for this is getting squeezed out. PRAY also during the time we are gone that we would find help for the care of Brittany while Debbie is at work. Debbie also needs to find another job. She is not getting enough hours or enough pay where she is now..
What a great God we serve!! “May God be gracious to us and bless us and make his face shine upon us, that your ways may be known on earth, your salvation among all nations.” (Psalm 67:1-2)
