February 2003 Update

Your prayers and support are invaluable to us. Without it we could not do what we do. We appreciate and love you and thank you for sticking with us through this time of transition.

In our research of how best to serve in China an opportunity that appears very positive is a program called “Shoes for Orphan Souls”. This trip is scheduled for October and would involve taking shoes, socks, and shoelaces that have been collected here in the States to orphans in China. In addition medicines, vitamins and baby items are also collected to be taken to these precious innocent victims of circumstances. The greatest purpose while there, of course, would be time spent interacting with the orphans and their caregivers showing God’s love in anyway that we can. This would be a very good starting place as the future of China depends on the children.

“The Christian who is pure and without fault, from God the Father’s point of view, is the one who takes care of orphans and widows and who remains true to the Lord.” (James 1:27)

China is a very large country with 31 provinces and with people that are more culturally diverse than the Europeans. There are more than 1.4 billions souls there who are dear to God of which less than 1 in 10 know Jesus as Lord and Savior. So we continue to investigate and meet and talk with people about ways to minister legally and where we can best be used.

Not wanting to be hindered in our ability to come and go as needed has made the decision for us to get our house ready to sell so we can move into a townhouse. This was an easy decision for Rolf, who actually has been wanting to do this for sometime. Sherri….well, she has been digging in her heels, but after ministering to China was put on our hearts, God spoke very clearly to her saying that the time has come.

We found the “perfect” place — right for us yet big enough for family and friends to gather (very important) and no maintenance!! This is a new townhouse development and our building has not been started. Once they break ground completion is anticipated in 6-7 months. We do need your prayers for the timing of selling our house to coordinate with moving into our new place and the China trip in October.

“I thank my God every time I remember you. In all my prayers for all of you, I always pray with joy because of your partnership in the gospel from the first day until now, being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.” (Philippians 1:3-6)

Rolf is again working on the committee for the Illinois Prayer Breakfast (formerly Governor’s Prayer Breakfast) on Wednesday, April 16th. If you would like information or tickets, just give him a call.
