September 2002 Update

“Devote yourselves to prayer being watchful and thankful. And pray for us, too, that God may open a door for our message, so that we may proclaim the mystery of Christ, for which I am in chains. Pray that I may proclaim it clearly, as I should.” (Colossians 4:2-4)

We are so excited to be going back to China for another two week mission trip. We left part of our hearts there in April and now only five months later we are able to return. September 16th is our departure date.

This trip will include a different region than before, a region populated mostly by Muslims and atheists. This will present us with some new challenges. Being in a “closed” country the biggest struggle we will face will be not being able to freely talk to the people about Jesus. But, praise God, He is bigger than all the challenges and struggles!! He is also faithful and we just need to be trusting and willing and available.

Pray that we would “be mirrors that brightly reflect the glory of the Lord. And as the Spirit of the Lord works within us, we become more and more like him “and that these people will see a difference in us and be drawn to His glory. (2 Corinthians 3:18)

In the book of Exodus 17:11, the Israelites were fighting against the Amalekites and as long as Moses held his hands up the Israelites were winning. But he couldn’t keep them up without help. To insure victory Aaron and Hur stood by him and held up his hands.

Lately we have been faced with some challenges with family situations and our ministry change that have caused some of our focus to be taken away from this trip. We want to be ready for the encounters and precious people God has divinely appointed to us in China. We need you to “lift up our hands” keeping us in prayer.

We have enclosed a Prayer Calendar as a guide as how to pray for us and for the people of this country. Thank you for being there standing in the gap on our behalf. You are such a blessing to us!!

“With this in mind, we constantly pray for you, that our God may count you worthy of his calling, and that by his power he may fulfill every good purpose of yours and every act prompted by your faith. We pray this so that the name of our Lord Jesus may be glorified in you, and you in him, according to the grace of our God and the Lord Jesus Christ.” (2 Thessalonians1:11-12)
