We are Colorado bound (15th) to attend the Executive Ministries National Conference (17-22), followed by the Campus Crusade Biennial Staff Conference (22-29). We anticipate a wonderful time of renewing, refreshing and refocusing our purpose and vision.
As we have been getting ready we couldn’t help but remember our last trip 2 years ago………. Looking forward to a great time, we were off —- only to have our car break down. God is good because we did make it to friends in Nebraska where we left the car for repair. Then our friends generously provided us with one of their own cars for the rest of our trip.
Six months later, car checked, we are ready for a trip to Florida to attend some required classes. We didn’t even make it to Indianapolis and, you guessed it, the car breaks down. But, a mechanic is available, and after hours! He was able to get the needed part and the car is repaired that night! Praise God, we made it safe, sound and on time for school.
Six months later when the car breaks down again, we are told that’s it, no more repairs are possible.
We have no idea what we’ll do?? Then Sherri’s brother tells us he has a car to give us. This is incredible. What a gift!! God does provide and we are truly grateful, but we needed to be happy about it—-because quite honestly, it is another older car and probably not as comfortable riding as the car we had, etc. etc.
“Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us.” (Ephesians 3:20) A few days after that something even more incredible happens. Someone tells us we need to have a new, safe, reliable, comfortable minivan and then gives us the provision to buy it!!!
Every time we get in that car, we praise and thank God for His faithfulness in providing. We have prayed prayers of blessings for our gift giver and thought how wonderfully God would be blessing him and his family because of their giving. “The generous will themselves be blessed, for they share their food with the poor.” (Proverbs 22:9) But then we began to realize God did more than just fill a material need (even though a very real one). As times of uncertainty have come up, the real gift is revealed; that is, God saying, “Trust in me, remember when it is needed, I will provide.”
We are blessed that God’s provision for us includes you. We are deeply grateful to be able to partner together in serving Him. We can’t thank you enough for your faithful prayers and financial gifts and pray YOU, “A generous man will himself be blessed…”
Please PRAY for our safe travel and God to ready our hearts to what He would have us learn and bring back with us from the conferences.
