February is the month when “Valentine’s Day” (and Hallmark!) gives us the opportunity to tell others of our love.
The North Shore, West and Northwest Straight Talk hosted breakfast to over 400 men last month to tell them of the greatest love of all — God’s Love. “And hope does not put us to shame, because God’s love has been poured out into our hearts through the Holy Spirit, who has been given to us.” (Romans 5:5)
Through speakers with experiences that related to the men in the audience, they heard how this love changed their lives — at one breakfast from a businessman, at another a former football player now judge, and the other a prominent doctor.
Most importantly they all heard how they, too, can know this love personally through God’s provision of Jesus Christ. “Jesus answered, I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” (John 14:6) A total of 28 men indicated a decision to invite Jesus into their lives and 29 more men requested more information and/or to join a Bible study.
For us, looking at the faces of the men that walk in and knowing some will walk out a different person, changed forever (“new creations in Christ”) is something we never tire of!! We are excited and humbled to be part of seeing God at work. Thank you for allowing us the privilege!!
In April Straight Talk will again be serving breakfast and sharing the Good News from speakers in the language of the marketplace. God delights in and does some of His best work through our prayers.
For the table hosts PRAY
- for the desire to see changed lives.
- for the time and energy it takes to do the inviting.
- boldness to follow up on those they would like to invite.
- they not get discouraged.
PRAISE – our son R.D. has found a permanent job. We are grateful for all the prayers and his overcoming the struggle of being a “temp” for so long. PRAY he and the company meet each other’s expectations.
PRAY for Sherri. She has struggled with sinusitis since the start of winter leaving her drained of energy and discouraged. Pray for wisdom on decisions with doctor on (or if) what next steps should be.
