What is Chicago Executive Ministries all about…
History: The late Arthur S. DeMoss, Founder, President and Chairman of the Board of National Liberty Corporation, Valley Forge, Pennsylvania, discovered that most business executives are hurting, spiritually hungry and very receptive to the Gospel message. Burdened that so little was being done to share Christ effectively with this “neglected minority”, Art and his wife, Nancy, began to host Outreach Dinner Parties in the Philadelphia area in the early 1960’s. Then, in 1976, Campus Crusade for Christ International began to serve in the follow-up and discipleship of individuals who responded to Jesus Christ at these outreaches. Thus, Executive Ministries was created to identify and train Christian influencers to reach out and disciple their peers for Christ, and also to provide staff personnel to assist Hosts around the country in the team development of a local city ministry.
Local: Chicago Executive Ministries, established and directed by Ace & Marj Mokry, began in 1982, committed to create a movement of evangelism and discipleship among Chicago’s executives, professionals and the community leadership. Sherri and I joined the Chicago team in May of 1993. The ministry mission is to help influencers reach other influencers for Christ.
1996 Outreaches: Executive Ministries held three Dinner Parties, five Straight Talk Breakfast’s and seven Counterpoint Home Concerts during which 3,500 guests were exposed to the Gospel, with over 400 indicating a decision to come to know Christ personally and grow in their faith through weekly Bible Studies. Other events that we were involved in was the Governor’s Prayer Breakfast, Luis Palau’s “Say Yes Chicago” Campaign, the FamilyLife Marriage Conference, the National Day of Prayer Breakfast, the Promise Keepers Conferences (Chicago & Indianapolis), Peter Lowe’s Success Seminar, the DuPage Prayer Breakfast and the Heartcry Revival Weekend.
1997 Plans: The success of the Straight Talk Breakfast events, which started three years ago on the Northshore, has given birth to two new teams, one in the Western Suburbs and one in the Northwest. For this coming year we are planning 8 Straight Talk Breakfast’s, 4 Outreach Dinner Parties and several Christmas Home Concerts in addition to expanding the ongoing weekly Men’s & Women Bible Studies.
Financial needs: On the financial side we have been told we err in not making our needs for the ministry known enough. So here we go. We need to raise an additional $2,500 in monthly support to take care of our 1997 budget. If you want to begin monthly investments in Executive Ministries over and above your church tithe or if you can make a special one time contribution please use the enclosed envelope, or saved it for future consideration. If you desire further information about becoming an investing partner with Executive Ministries or the 1997 budget please feel free to call.
Thank you very much for your prayerful consideration. Please do not feel any pressure or obligation for financial participation. You are invited to become a ministry partner only as you feel led to do so. We believe that God will meet all needs presented this way through those who respond to His leading.
